Openwave Acquires WiderWeb for $9 Million

REDWOOD CITY, CA --  Openwave Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: OPWV) has announced the acquisition of WiderWeb Ltd., a developer of mobile web access solutions, for $9 million.

WiderWeb will provide Openwave with an open internet browsing solution that re-formats web content for mobile phones.  It will be integrated into Openwave's mobile gateway infrastructure, which is designed to let operators offer consumers a broader range of media content choices delivered to their mobile devices and phones.

The transaction consists of $5 million cash and up to a $4 million contingent earn-out.
